Picture 4 of 4

More than twenty people were carrying that enormous flag. They were waving it, raising it above their heads, and marching all around Martyrs' square parading with it.

People will come and go, wars will be won and lost, but at the end of the day, this flag will outgrow us all, and it will keep existing so it could tell its people the stories of their ancestors, those brave enough to raise it, those willing enough to sacrifice their lives for it, and those proud enough to have it as their identity wherever they go.

I couldn't think of anything more suitable right now then to end this series with a translated part of the Lebanese national anthem.

All of us! For our Country, for our Flag and Glory!
Our valor and our writings are the envy of the ages.
Our mountains and our valleys, they bring forth stalwart men.
And to Perfection all our efforts we devote.
All of us! For our Country, for our Flag and Glory!

The series won 2nd place in the Liberty, equality, fraternity contest

This series made me cry. I mean, the pictures themselves are beautifully taken, but they also capture the spirit of what's going on so well. (I hope that makes sense, I'm having trouble articulating what I mean exactly.) I only wish my grandma had been alive to see it.

Seeing all these photos now bring back memories... but i wish we were still united as before
when we had our freedom things turned bad. I think those politicians are making things hard

Wow. What an amazing series you have given us. Your photographs should be a lesson to all who yearn for freedom. You have captured the humanity of your people and have given us a chance to see a rare event in life--a people liberated. I congratulate you on your efforts. I am, needless to say, very glad I watch you.

Likewise, believe me.
And I gotta say, I wouldn't have posted these pictures if it weren't for the chosen topic, but now I'm a bit more relieved that I did.
